LG were once one of the leaders in the mobile phone market but with Google’s Android platform now being the norm for several manafacturers’ preferred operating system, the company have yet to make any lasting impact with the platform. However, the firm are now aiming to change their fortunes in the market by being the next partner for Google’s Nexus smartphone.

The head of LG’s smartphone division Ramchan Woo said they’re “heavily in discussions” with Google and “they’re working on it”. Google recently completed the $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola and partners for the company have been worried if Motorola would be favored in terms of anything Android. Woo, however, said any commitment has yet to be made on being a partner.

Woo continued to say that they “know the customer data better than Google” and they could build a better user interface for Android.
